Present indications are that the longtails are turning up in the Mooloolaba Bay and should ensure a good competition. This is a flyfishing only event with all competitors supplied with 9.1 Kg leader material.

In past competitions over 340 fish have been captured and released in the two and half day event.

The 2004 Event resulted in , 96 fish landed on the first day and the competition was cancelled for the remaining 2 days due to bad weather.

The Tackle Shop Carseldine is our major sponsor, with generous support from the tackle industry and local businesses.

Competition includes trophies for team, male, female and junior (under 16years) classes.

Trophies have been donated by Bli Bli Realty, Bli Bli, Queensland. There will also be random draw for the large array of prizes.

This is a team event, teams to comprise of 2 persons fishing from the same boat, a non fishing boat captain / observer is also permitted.

Boat larger than 4.00 metres in length, with offshore safety equipment are suitable.

The Tournament runs for 3 days and is a fantastic way for all keen flyfishers of all levels of experience to get together and learn plenty from other anglers on fly patterns; techniques etc, and more importantly enjoy the challenge and thrill of catching and releasing the mighty Longtail Tuna.
