Talon Double Handed Fly Lines / WMD Shooting Heads were designed for Talon WMD Overhead Double Rods, 12 foot 7/8w and 14 foot 9/10w Rods. Other sizes, lengths/weights of rods are now under development and will be released later in 05. These new Shooting Heads are a result of 3 years of research and development, to build a Shooting Head that perefectly matched the rod and was still suitable for other brands of rods, like yours.

Talon RA will also be releasing other length lines/Heads, suitable for different lengths of rods, these will be fly lines/Heads for 12foot 6inch 6w, 13 foot 8/9w, 13 foot 9/10w.

Talon Double Handed Fly Lines/Heads are specifically designed for Overhead Casting, however they are well suited for Underhand Casting styles.

This set of Double Handed Fly Lines / Shooting Heads has been produced to match perfectly the performance features of Talon RA WMD Double Handed Overhead Rods of corresponding length/weight.

These lines / Heads will cast beautifully on your rod, as long as the rod's length and suggested weight are matched to a Talon Double Handed Head or Line.

Each Head, no matter which type, has been designed to allow the tip to sink first, and in this way giving you, the angler/caster a better hookup ratio by staying in contact with your fly.

The tip section has been formed with a 2.4mt / 8 feet taper to enable soft presentations, like you have only ever dreamed of !

With a rear taper of approx .5mt long, this is to stabilize the heads flight, so that the head flies straight to your target/fish.

Shooting Head for their single handed rod casting

The Line Weights are tip to near tip loads for both rods, which makes it possible to use a wide range of sink tips, and as a result you are then not overloading your new rod. You will also find that casting with the increased weight of the tip that will not effect your casting or the style noticeably. Which is a great aid to new casters of Doubles.

The above Double Handed Heads cast beautifully without a added sink tip, by just using the correct Talon Tapered Monofilament leader or your own brand of tapered leader.

They, the Heads can cast and roll over a 21 foot leader, with the correct size fly, for larger flies, like 2/0's, then just reduce the leader length, to match the roll over.

There is a slight difference in length between each type of Talon Double WMD Head, the Intermediate, Floating and Sinking, this is due to the fact all Heads are finely tuned lengths to help you, the caster enjoy Double caster far quicker, by making casting easier.

If when using a Talon Double Handed WMD Shooting Head, on your Double rod, (not a Talon RA WMD Double
rod )and the loading feels a wee too light, then you can either shoot line into the final backcast, to increase the loading or use your favorite tip/leader with a heavier butt section. The ability to shoot line into the backcast, is by far the best way, as this deepens the rod's loading and therefore increases the cast range.

The other reason, the Floating Head is longer to enable a better turn over in casting because of its lower density, and therefore larger diameter, where as a Fast Sinking Head, because if its higher density and therefore smaller diameter can turn over far quicker.

Each Talon Double Overhead casting Shooting Head is supplied with a finely formed loop at each end that has been coated and welded into the main section of the Head. A finely formed loop to enable the maximum in performance, which equals speed, which equals distance, cast from the Head.

For Saltwater casting, nothing beats a Clear Intermediate WMD Head, why, just think, the Tuna or Salmon are spooky, they have seen too many boats and lure chuckers, and you start casting a WMD Head and matching Talon Tapered Leader that has a total length of 34 plus 14 feet, 48feet of clear mono !

And then cast your fly over 100feet into the school of Tuna, guess who hooks up, you.

Or for the Freshwater caster, the Trout hunter, cast your Talon WMD Head over 100 feet with a nymph or streamer, then start to just think about the smart fish that stayed out of range all afternoon and beat you, because you couldn't reach out to them. Now you can change the rules, you can cast out to meet those smart fish, the big old clever Browns or the fat Rainbows.

The options are endless for you, with a long range casting tool and a suitable Talon Overhead WMD Shooting Head coupled to a matching Talon Tapered leader.
