Goodday Barry. The rod arrived last Wednesday and it was down to the park to compare it to my Loomis GL2. Ten minutes of casting with the Loomis and I was hitting 25m regularly ....with the aid of a slight tail wind.

With the same line I was quickly getting 25m with the Conquest. It has more power in the butt section and I recon it would take a line size bigger with ease (I might give it a go with a ten wt. line].

I did find the grip a bit to long and I could not hold the rod as close to the reel as I like but a bit of reshaping should sort that out. Anyway a two hour session yesterday let me know that it will be the main rod I will use from now on. Fishing some flats 80ks north of here I managed to pluck a few small queenies and trevs from under the noses of about 40 sharks that were inhabiting the same waters.
