Talon
Arctic Fox Zonker Black Prince
Hook
: Talon Harrier Streamer hook or any other long shank hook
to suit your target fish.
Body : Copper wire over laid with black wool.
Eye : Talon Eyes on a String, yellow.
Wing : Talon Arctic Zonker strip, black.
Wrap
the hook with copper wire, it produces a better balance
in the flies action, however lead wire can be used for deep
or fast water.
Wrap
the body with black wool.
Wing,
take a section of the zonker strip and bind in, cut the
head end to form a tapered head.
Fix
the Eyes in place with a vinyl or contact cement, this is
a easy way to hold the eyes in place as the epoxy sets.
Cover
the head, only with clear 5 minute epoxy. (The image, yes
this is a chewed fly and has taken a number of fish)
Variations,
retain the black wing, change the body to dark brown body.
This fishes well in some areas of central NSW, Australia,
however the all Black Prince is a very effective searching
fly, specially around fallen timber in lakes. The BP never,
ever has any flash material added, this is one of the secrets
of this flies amazing performance.
Why
no flash, maybe because it represents a nymph or mudeye/dragon
fly escaping, even though it is built as a streamer, I really
don't know, no fish has ever spoken to me about the matter.
